Back on Sept 4th of 1969 I went into the hospital to be induced with my first baby. I was scared because I didn't know anything about delivering babies. The doctor had just come in, checked me, tried to break my water. That didn't work because the baby's head was too far down. So he instructed the nurse to go ahead with the Pitocin drip. The nurse did that, and walked toward the door to leave. She stopped. She turned around. Then she walked right back toward me, and listened for the baby's heartbeat. Then she pushed the blue button on the wall (the one I hadn't even noticed before). Suddenly my room was filled with doctors, nurses, and probably the janitor. They were all taking turns listening to my belly. Then the doctor ordered the surgery room to be made ready for me to have a c-section. What??
This wasn't what we had planned. But it was what was to be because the cord was wrapped around my baby's ankle tightly, and several times, Denise couldn't be born. She needed help, and God knew that. It was what was in His plan. I'm very thankful for His plan because Denise has been a constant source of joy, happiness, insight, wisdom, compassion, fun, and tons of other things, over the 41 years of her life. For this I thank my God, and I thank her. I love you more than you will ever know in this lifetime, Denise!
You made all the delicate inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complete. Your workmanship is marvelous--and how well I know it. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
How precious are Your thoughts about me, O God! Psalm 139:13-16

Hello Dianne, and thank you for your comments on my blog.
A belated happy birthday to your daughter!! A cause for celebration indeed.
Both of my boys were c-section as well - not what we had planned, but the outcome was just as wonderful.
