Cleaning out my closet

Just saw this on FOR THE LOVE OF BLOGS, and thought it would be something I would enjoy. For my first cleaning of a closet, I'll tell you that I do not enjoy a fire
in the fireplace. Why you might ask? Well because my dh and our son are unconfessed firebugs. They think bigger is better. A huge roaring fire scares me to pieces. There I said it. I'm afraid they will set our roof, or our attic on fire with that big blaze. Anyone else have that fear? Am I alone in this fear? I never say anything to them because I don't want to warp their male egos or anything.
I like the fire to be down low, and romantic. Not one that I have to have the fire extinguisher handy or the fire department on my speed dial. And before each fire, my dh cleans out the fireplace of all ashes. I've read that a nice carpet of ashes should be in the bottom of the fireplace to help start the next fire. But no one wants to hear that from me. Just another little tidbit I thought I would throw out there for free.
