Dennis and I went to Lora Norwood's life celebration this morning. It's so hard to know she won't be walking past our house while we sit out on the swing. Whenever we saw each other, we knew it would be at least an hour of talking before the visit was over. And the visits were never planned, they just happened. Lora was a friend that I knew I could talk to and visit with whether or not I had a problem to discuss. No coffee katches for us, we just let it happen whenever. Lora was easy going, and nice to be around. She loved her family, and loved her home.
We walked over to visit with Lora after the Holy Spirit prompted me to go over there. We didn't visit one another's homes, we visited out in the yard. But with the prompting to go over there, Dennis and I walked over. Lora herself met us at the door, and invited us in. We talked of family like we always did. Then in the quietness between friends, Lora told us that she had cancer, and would be having chemo/radiation treatments. Over the months we would ask Lora's husband or kids when we saw them how Lora was doing. It was easy to ask on Fb, but I wish I had gone over to the house more often. Just a regret I have...... The chemo/radiation did not work. Lora got sicker and in more pain. Then the word came from Mack that they had called in hospice and Lora had been given only 4 months to live. I heard that she was in a lot of pain, so we didn't go visit. Another regret... She went "downhill" fast, and in only a few weeks she was gone. She fought the good fight. She never gave up. She wanted so much to live and continue to take care of and love her family.
See you later, dear friend. Your family will be ok. You did a good job, and they are all good people, and nice to be around....just like you!
