We had a two day winter storm. Yesterday was the freezing rain, and sleet. Today was the all day snow fall. We have probably 10 to 12 inches out there right now, and it's still coming down. I haven't seen such a snowfall since the blizzard in Ohio back in 1979. The snow was over our back fence and our dog walked away, never to be seen again.
It's in the 20's out there now, and supposed to have a very cold weekend, so I don't think this whiteness will be going away anytime soon.
I had a cardiac test on Tuesday. I have had this stress test probably 4 other times, and this was by far the worst thing I have ever had. When I got there at 11:45 the tech put in an I.V. and actually got it in on the first try. That's new. So, I'm thinking, "this is good. Must mean things will go good for me today". The doctor who would be administering the test came to talk to me and ask me health questions. I told her I've had this test before and I knew what to expect. She told me that a new medicine was being used now and it's effects on the body were much better than I had before. Oh good! So the radioactive isotops were put into the I.V. and I was taken down the hall for the test where the machine moves over your chest area while you lay with your arms over your head. That lasted 13 minutes. My left shoulder has been very painful for the past two years so having it up over my head for 13 minutes made it very hard to get it to move again. Then I was taken into the nuclear area for the chemical stress test. The doctor came in followed by the tech who would keep an eye on my blood pressure. The chemicals were put into my I.V. and all hell broke loose in my body. I thought my chest would explode with the pressure and the pain. I could not breathe...in or out. I felt a lot of intense heat. I could hear the tech telling the doctor that my blood pressure had shot up. It was 118/40 when I arrived, but it went up with the chemicals. This procedure took about 10 minutes and the doctor came over to me and said she would give me a shot in my I.V. that would quickly reverse the effects of shot #1. Wrong!!!! This was really bad. My throat suddenly felt intensely HOT and burning. I guess my face got very red. The doctor didn't leave my side. She watched me for a few seconds, then said she would give me another shot to reverse the effects. This one didn't work either. I suddenly was unable to speak, and I couldn't breathe. The doctor sent the tech to have Dennis come in. Oh no!! I didn't want him to see me like this. I was sobbing when Dennis came in. He didn't understand the test or what I had just gone through, and really, he wasn't any comfort to me. I love him more than anything, but he doesn't understand anything medical. But he held my hand and talked about the weather, and actually that helped. It at least took my mind off of the hell I was going through. I love that man. When the effects had finally worn off, I was again taken to have the machine move over me while my arms were above my head. After that 13 minutes, I could go home.
I was so thankful to be home! I ate some of Denise's wonderful homemade veggie soup, and just relaxed in the home that I love so much and enjoyed the quiet. I am so thankful that it's all over. No results yet. I think the doctor's office was probably closed today due to the storm.
