Freaky Friday

School is going great this year. The girls are so happy with their teachers and their activities. Brianna is a safety patrol, and one of her duties is holding the door open for people to pass through. Another duty is lowering the flag, removing it from the flagpole and folding it up. As you can plainly see from the picture, Dennis has to help with the folding! Brianna ran off with one of her friends......
As I was observing, and taking pictures, I realize that the kids don't know flag equiette. You know, the flag is not supposed to touch the ground. *sigh* I said that about twenty times, but that poor flag was drug all over the place. I kept saying things like please think of the people who died for this flag. Ok, I'm old fashioned I guess. But I think of my dad at Omaha Beach, and my Uncle Dan at Iwa Jima, and the many of other service people fighting for this flag and to keep our country free. (right now the biggest battle is right here on our home soil...but that is another post)

Hope blogspot puts these in the order that I put them in........

Most kids nowadays don't have ANY etiquette...but maybe that's another post too. ;)

Those are such special memories Dianne.Thank you for sharing them with us.They should have veterans come in and talk about the meaning of the flag and how to properly take it down and fold it.They need to learn to respect the flag and treat it respectfully. It is not etiquette per say but respect for the flag that they need to be taught before giving the duties of raising and taking the flag down.
