Swimming at last!

It's been two years since we've put our pool up. The girls were two years younger when we last had it up. They would swim in it about 15 minutes then would come dripping their wetness all over the house saying they were bored. So last year with that in our minds, and the fact that Dennis had had a major, huge, big, bad heart attack in January and he would have had to put the pool up by himself, we opted to not put the pool up in the summer of 2008.

So this year there has been weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth at the thought that they would go another long hot summer with no pool. But Dennis decided to go ahead with putting up the pool. He never does anything half way. He carefully smoothed out the area, laid down a tarp, put down carpet padding, then another tarp. Then he carefull got the old pool out of the box and blew it up with the air compressor. Son, Dj, Dennis, and myself carefully started walking toward the backyard carrying the huge pool. We got half way through the gate, and it happened! A huge hole. It got snagged on a screw sticking out of the privacy fence. *sigh* How to tell the girls that there would be no pool.........
Then Dj said he would go to WalMart and get another one. And he did. When the girls came home from summer classes, there stood the pool! Yesterday they go in it for the first time! Laughter and smiles all around. Thanks, Dennis. Thanks, Dj.

Today Ally went to get her new glasses. She has worn glasses since she was 3 years old. She is very near sighted, and she has astigmatism. She has had two eye surgeries for "wandering eye". (Sorry, Dr Denslow, I can't remember the big fancy word you used!) At her appointment last week we were told that she would again need a stronger lens in order to see, so new glasses were ordered. Ally has always been allowed to pick out her own frames. This time she chose pink. Oh my! They are truly beautiful on her beautiful face!!
